The Legend Begins

In the garage deep in the woods, where tools clang and engines purr, I've taken on my greatest challenge yet: resurrecting a forgotten 1964 Corvair convertible.

Project car life is mainly pain, tears, time, and frustration, but it's also the best hobby ever. As a creature of the forest, I've always been fascinated by human engineering, and this Corvair—with its unique rear-engine design and sleek lines—called to me from beneath years of neglect.

Follow along as my big paws tackle tiny bolts, as I battle the dreaded rust cancer, and as I breathe new life into this classic American machine.

About This Legendary Build

It has long been my dream to restore a car, and my love for cars was passed on to me by my dad (a particularly hairy human). This 1964 Corvair convertible represents not just a vehicle, but a journey of discovery, patience, and triumph.

I wanted to give up on numerous occasions as it seemed much of the progress was one step forward and then two steps back. But the trials and tribulations just increase the value of the reward you feel in the end.

As a Sasquatch with a passion for mechanical marvels, I bring a unique perspective to this restoration. My large hands may struggle with small bolts, but my determination is as vast as the forest I call home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you choose a Corvair?

The Corvair's unique rear-engine design and air-cooled flat-six engine make it a fascinating piece of American automotive history. Plus, its compact size is perfect for a creature with my proportions to work on!

How long will the restoration take?

Lack of time and money kill more projects than people's resolve. I'm taking it one step at a time, but I estimate the full restoration will take about two years of weekends and evenings in the garage.

Are you keeping it stock or modifying it?

I'm aiming for a mostly period-correct restoration with a few modern reliability upgrades. The goal is to preserve the Corvair's unique character while making it a dependable driver for forest cruises.
